Overview Exchange Visitor Program & J-1 visa

""

The Exchange Visitor Program (EVP) is designed to bring international scholars, researchers, professors and specialists to the United States for a variety of educational and cultural exchange purposes. The purpose of the J1 visa is to increase mutual understanding between the people of the US and the people of other countries by means of educational and cultural exchanges.

We welcome scholars from all over the world to enhance learning and research through temporary, collaborative activities with our university. In most cases, a specific academic department sponsors and hosts a visiting scholar. Any scholar interested in visiting Boise State University should reach out directly to the academic department in their field of interest. You can learn more about the departments at Boise State, including areas of teaching and research, by accessing department websites. A full list of Boise State academic departments can be found here.

Boise State is authorized to invite EVP participants in the categories of Research Scholar, Professor, Short-term Scholar, and Specialist. Each category covers a particular type of activity. Additionally, each category has minimum and maximum periods of program participation eligibility. Learn more about the categories and requirements of the EVP and J-1 visa by visiting the pages on this website.
